Hidden Fifth combines Irish Traditional Music with driving piano & guitar to create a warm, lively blend of tunes that will make you want to dance! The band features Deirdre Wood (of Celtic Spring) on fiddle, with her husband Max Becher on flute. Sisters Margaret and Melanie Ryland accompany on guitar and piano. The vision for this album came while practicing for another project -- a dance accompaniment CD for Deirdre's Irish dance classes. We were having such a great time playing together with Margaret and Melanie that we decided to simultaneously record an album of our own. The name 'Hidden Fifth' was inspired by our (Max and Deirdre) unborn daughter, Siobhán, who was 8 months along as we went into the studio. (Yes, Deirdre actually laid down the step-dancing track in the 9th month!) Siobhán was the 'Hidden Fifth' who first saw the light in January, 2013. She had no idea that she was being born into a world filled with so much music and dancing! Playing music and dancing is our passion, and we are delighted to share a bit of our joy with you on our first album. Enjoy!
