Popis - 49TH PARALLEL:
Northern Light was formed in 1974 and is made up of four members: guitarist, Spence Peterson, lead guitarist, Nick Raths, bassist, Gary Lopac and David Sandler on piano. The group shares singing roles and is particularly noted for their pristine vocals and masterful pop productions. Sandler writes most of the material and does the arranging and producing with aid from other members of the group. The eighth selection, 'Minnesota', which is on their latest cd, '49th Parallel', reached the national charts for several weeks, aided by the promotional efforts of Timothy D. Kehr and brought Northern Light new fans and attention. Their music has appeared on the NBC Today Show and they have made live appearances with Kansas and other notable internationally known groups. Recently, they were inducted into the Minnesota Rock/Country Hall of Fame which includes such well-known artists as Prince, Bob Dylan, Lipps Sync and the Trashmen. David Sandler, Northern Light's in-group producer, has worked with and mentored under Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys before founding Northern Light and credits Brian as his most major influence along with the Beatles, British music, Brill, Motown and many other artists with whom he has been exposed. In '49th Parallel' Northern Light projects a picture of the Northern life style plumbing such themes as pond hockey, lake-side dancehalls and romantic walks in the snow using various rhythms and instrumental textures. Northern Light is currently working on new musical adventures and eagerly looks forward to sharing their future projects with their ever growing enthusiastic audience of fans.
