Popis - FAMOUS OPERATIC ARIAS:
Marija Stojakovic received her formal education at the Academy of Music in Belgrade (Bachelor of Music) and the Sydney Conservatorium Of Music. As an accomplished musician, Marija has won a number of awards in Australia and overseas including Belgrade, Dubrovnik and the International Violin Competition “Jaroslav Kocian” in Czechoslovakia. She has performed with the Sydney Symphony, Australian Chamber Orchestra and Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. She has been singing as far back as she can remember. The gift was passed on by her grandparents Radojka and Milutin - Tine Zivkovic, duo-accordionists and her father Slobodan Zivkovic, pianist. In 1995 Marija commenced private singing with Australian Opera Principal Ms Arax Mansourian and became the leading soprano with ASAS choir. Rita Hunter ( one of the major Wagnerian sopranos of the later 20th century) was her next teacher, who enhanced her already exquisite vocal ability. In 1997 Marija won a scholarship at the Marthy Awards in Brisbane to study singing at the Guildhall School of Music in London, that she completed in 1998. In 2000 Marija won the first prize at the Roger Woodward Competition and in 2003 completed the Diploma of Opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Ms Maree Ryan. Her affinity for recital and concert repertoire, including many 20th century works has led to guest appearances with Dean Olding and Australian Ensemble, singing Shostakovich's Seven Poems.Marija has also performed and recorded for Australian ABC, 2MBS-FM and SBS Radio.
