Popis - ALTERED BUFFALO:
What happens when two experienced musicians with different backgrounds like stoner rock and metal (Tjeerd de Jong) and country- & folkrock (René van den Belt) decide to join hands in making a record? The answer is Altered Buffalo, and adventurous en challenging album on which acoustic folksongs, sixties psychedelica and Neil Young-oriented guitarrock take turns. De Jong and Van den Belt know eachother since the eighties, when both Dutch musicians from Kampen lived in the town of Emmeloord. They followed their divergent musical paths with interest and respect and sometimes also shared the stage to jam. What combines both singer-/songwriters is their common love and appreciation of the sixties and seventies West Coast bands like The Byrds, Love and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Music with chiming guitars, beautiful melodies and angelic close harmony vocals. When last year Tjeerd had written songs in that specific style he asked René to make a record together. René brought to the project a handful of songs that didn't automatically fit in with the alt.country character of his own bands, but matched seamless with Tjeerd's new material. In the summer of 2021 recording started at Tjeerd's Demon Lodge Studio. It didn't take long before Altered Buffalo saw the daylight, an unconventional roots-album on which the shared vocals of Tjeerd and René and their acoustic and electric guitar interplay forms the backbone. All other instruments (bass, drums, keyboards, banjo) were played by the seasoned and skilled musicians themselves, so it's fair to say this is a real duo-record. "The making of this album was a joyous adventure, a gift to ourselves in the midst of the dark COVID-period. The recording proces went swift and supple and was full of surprises. Then you get the quick feeling that you're on the right track creating something special," according to the makers of Altered Buffalo. Limited edition 6 panel digisleeve CD. 300 copies worldwide!
