Popis - STONE FREE/LOVER MAN /7:
Recorded in April 1969, with Billy Cox on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums, and with friends Roger Chapman and Andy Fairweather Low on backing vocals, this platter features Hendrix' second studio attempt at 'Stone Free', perhaps the song that best encapsulates the artist's restless renegade spirit! Reprise scheduled this axe anthem as a single not long after the sessions, but for reasons unknown, the label issued an earlier version that was recorded in 1966 and had previously appeared as a 1966 B-side in the UK. So far this revised, rocking, razing take only appeared on a posthumous LP in the '70s in an overdubbed version... but it is restored to the original performances on this killer 7-inch! Also included is 'Lover Man,' a superb, funkified blues track with Billy Cox on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums, recorded during the Summer of 1970.
