Heather Bishop a natural and abundantly gifted entertainer' Kitchener-Waterloo Record As we move into the new century, Heather moves into her fourth decade of performing and touring, first with an all women's dance band in the early 70's and then as a solo artist. She has crisscrossed the continent doing concerts for all kinds of family, child, and adult audiences, in places as diverse as Boston, Vancouver, Kansas City, and the fly-in village of old Crow in the Yukon. She also has toured several times in Australia and in Scotland and Wales. Heather has always lived her belief that when she gives voice to the truth in her own life, it strikes a chord in other people's lives as well. And what a voice! Heather's resonant, expressive vocals can take you anywhere you want to go. In concert, Heather makes you laugh, touches your heart and lifts up your spirit. She offers up a feast of her own originals, choice classics and selections from other contemporary singer-songwriters. Heather has recently mounted a new show entitled “A Tribute to Peggy Lee”, wherein she successfully captures the essence of Peggy Lee through her music, while skillfully weaving vignettes of Peggy’s life throughout. She brings us all our favorite songs from almost four decades of music. Her thirteenth CD is a collection of music from that show and goes by the same title. As the Kingston Whig-Standard put it, 'Heather Bishop absorbs all life has to offer, imprints it with her compassion, her tremendous optimism - and sometimes quirky humor - and then reflects it all back through powerful lyrics and music that could banish complacency from the hardest heart.' Bishop herself represents the hope that such a world is attainable by the very resonance other own voice.' Nicki De, Victory Review 'Individually and collectively these are love songs for a planet and a people' Heartsong Review Biography Heather has always lived her belief that when she speaks and sings about the truth in her own life, it strikes a chord in other people's lives as well. She started performing three decades ago in the all-woman dance band, Walpurgis Night, and has been going strong ever since. In 1979 Heather recorded her first album and began touring extensively, playing concert halls, folk clubs and campuses, festivals and conferences, and school auditoriums across Canada and the United States. She toured solo or with one or more side players, doing concerts for adult, family and young audiences in major cities, small towns and remote communities. The fall of 2003 marked the release of Heather's thirteenth recording, Heather Bishop in A Tribute to Peggy Lee. Heather Bishop Live received a Prairie Music Award nomination for Best Roots Recording. In the 1990's, in addition to touring in Canada and the United States, Heather travelled overseas to tour in Scotland and Wales and made several trips to Australia. Years ago Heather built a solar house on her property in rural Manitoba, for which she did the carpentry, electrical and plumbing. In her time off the road, she's most often found there - hammering, sawing, wiring, planting, putting up one thing or pulling down another. Or, if the squirrels have chased her away, she could be off in the woods with her dog, Cutter.
