Wallias Band was an Ethiopian jazz/funk outfit active from the
'70s until the '9os, frequently working with Mulatu Astatke and one of the first Ethiopian bands to tour the USA. On 'Muziqa Muziqa' saxophonist Seyoum Gebreyes collaborates with the Wallias Band. Very little is known about Seyoum. 'Muziqa Muziqa' is an uptempo Ethio-funk jam, with a soaring vocal, driving organ, drums and brass. 'Muziqawi Slit' is a chugging, hypnotic Ethiopian jazz funk groover featuring an organ played by Hailu Mergia. Taken from his 'Tche Belew' LP, originally released on Kaifa in 1977, it features Mulatu Astatke and was arranged by Girme Beyene.
