The Kitchen Tapes is a compilation of 22 songs written and performed acoustically by the late Ron Davies, best known for having penned 'It Ain't Easy' for David Bowie's album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and 'Long Hard Climb' for Helen Reddy. His discography is a Who's Who of iconic artists including Long John Baldry, Joe Cocker, Dave Edmunds, Claudia Lennear, Three Dog Night and The Raconteurs, but these recordings don't even scratch the surface of Ron Davies' incredible music catalog. During his lifetime (1946 to 2003), Ron wrote more than 500 songs - amazingly intricate melodies with meaningful lryics. These newly-released recordings not only showcase his ability as a writer, but also as a singer and master guitarist. Ron's music has been described as 'sophisticated simplicity' and although it sounds natural and effortless, it is the culmination of a lifetime, working to perfect his craft. Also included on these recordings is a special guest appearance by Ron's sister, country singer Gail Davies. This album was compiled and mastered by Rob Price and Gail Davies at LCP Studios in Nashville, TN.
