It is not possible to speak of The Parkinsons without mentioning The Tedio Boys, the most important Portuguese Rock band of all time. In 2000 Victor Torpedo (former-guitarist of Tedio Boys) and Pedro Xau (former-stock exchange operator of 77) came to London and formed The Parkinsons .. the gigs started to spead the word of this fast, chaotic wild Punk-Rock?n?Roll. Initially nicknamed ?Camden Boys?, the Parkinsons had in a short time built up a legion of hardcore fans. Following the initial furor, the press claimed that the ?attitude and concerts of the Parkinsons made ?At The Drive In seem like The Corrs?; or that ?Victor Torpedo is the best guitarist ever, after Mick Jones of the Clash?. The band played intense tours in the United kingdom ,in Europe and 5 weeks in Japan that had culminated with the Fujirock and finally in the Brixton Academy (opening for Sum 41) that it took a journalist of New Musical Express (NME) saying: ?There?s been nothing this good since the early Manics! Gig Of the Year!?. After the acclaimed debut album ?A Long Way to Nowhere? (released in England through Fierce Panda and the USA through Elevator Music), there followed a MCD ?Streets of London?. After innumerable festivals in the summer of 2003 in the United kingdom, Afonso ?Al Zheimer? left the band leaving the writing and vocals to Victor Torpedo and Pedro Xau. ?Reason To Resist? (2004) was the first records without Afonso in vocals. For the record this is the defining statement of The Parkinsons with 13 songs of Rock?n?Roll explosions a la the dual guitars of Jones and Strummer, taking with them the best influences of English Punk! In March 2005 the band finally split. Victor And Pedro now forming Blood Safari?.but that?s another story!!!
