On vinyl, this is the score to Marcel Camus' prize (Cannes, Oscar, Golden Globe) winning 1959 movie, that basically was an updated interpretation of the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, set against the colourful background of Brazilian Carnival and featuring an all-black cast. More than just showcasing samba music, 'Black Orpheus' brought this genre to life, resulting in international stardom for Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luis Bonfa.
Both the movie and soundtrack played a major role in leveraging Bossa Nova's popularity outside of Brazil. This is the first presing of 500 copies.
