From jazz to gospel and classical choral singing, she has sung most of her life and has always been drawn to music of a less traveled road. A wide and diverse range of music has influenced her eclectic style. Whether it be Québécois folk singers--'chansonniers'--like Félix Leclercs, or old traditional American jazz and country song renderings from Etta James to Patsy Cline, or longing found in the modern influences of k.d. lang and Dolores O'Riordan of 'The Cranberries,' Christiane Pagé's renditions and own compositions search out some of the most intimate sentiments that musicians express about love. Jazz is the unlikely and welcoming palate that she chooses to integrate her diverse influences. 'Jazz as a genre, does not discriminate or compartmentalizes excessively the way other musical styles do. My song writing parallels my taste in art. Not much for realism, I am attracted to impressionism and abstract expressions of recognizable forms. What New Mexican artists achieve with their vivid and personal interpretations of people and landscapes in the Land of Enchantment is a little of what I hope to do with my songs'. Her selections and writings about love are universal and particular all at once and she hopes that listeners can project their own sense of love onto the canvases of her songs. Her debut CD 'The Road' is a musical testament to that point of view. 'As far apart as we feel from each other, as different as we can be to one another, is as close as we can become in love. There, we get a sense that our souls can be reborn, reshaped into perpetually new ways of making all our distances irrelevant. On the road to love, we can all relate to the nostalgic sentiments of Birdland, to being called a favorite work of art, to longing for the song that'll take us home, or to disbelieving what we see with our eyes and for looking around with our hearts. When songs move us, they become place-holders of the mind and the heart for our own stories.'
